When Brock and I were invited to visit Nova Scotia we were excited about many aspects of the trip; the breathtaking natural beauty, the outdoor adventures and the tasty seafood we’d heard so much about.

Something that definitely wasn’t on our bucket list was the wine. This was mainly down to our naivety in not knowing that Canada even produced their own wine.

Little did we know that not long after the start of our trip to the province of Nova Scotia we had tasted some of the best wine we’d ever had.

Neither of us have ever been massive seafood fans. But everything changed on our visit to Nova Scotia.

It wasn’t till we experienced the lobster rolls, the seafood chowder and the fish cakes that we’d begun to realise that the reason we hadn’t been huge seafood fans at the beginning was because we hadn’t experienced it in Nova Scotia.

Since travelling around the province and sampling the internationally acclaimed seafood we quickly expanded our knowledge and our love grew for anything and everything that came out of the Atlantic.

If you haven’t got long in Nova Scotia but want to get a real feel of the whole province and explore as much as you can then this is the perfect itinerary. If you love being on the road, amazing wildlife, delicious seafood and cultural experiences then this is the province for you!

With winding roads running through the mountains like ribbons as they hug the coastline of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Cabot Trail is known as one of the most beautiful and scenic journeys in the world showcasing an amazing coastal drive through the Cape Breton Highlands. Lunenburg has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1995 and after visiting we can see why. Lunenburg is a tiny town with 2,263 residents and just four square km or 48 blocks, with each block being wooden, colourful and quirky!
